An I.O.U. Paid Every Day
As a thriving business in Southern California, we at Landscape Warehouse credit our relationship with our customers as the primary reason for our success. They are more than a source of revenue or numbers on a receipt to us. Many of our customers have grown to be friends – some for over 25 years – and we are dedicated to their success as much as we are to our own. Without their continued participation in our extended family, we would have no business.
I’ve developed a list of some of the things we owe our customers – I.O.U.s we gladly pay to them every time they walk in the door or call to place an order. You might want to consider them for your business as well.
Of course, there are some basic ones, shown here with only a few examples of each:
Excellence – Provide excellent products and services at fair prices; keep up with technology
Honesty – Give actual delivery date of ordered products; know their real benefits and limitations
Courtesy – Remember, customers are always right, even when they’re not
Helpfulness – “Sure, we can help you with those plans and product selection”
And more.
But there are three additional customer I.O.U.s of extreme importance at Landscape Warehouse:
Thankfulness – We host Customer Appreciation BBQs, plus a Thanksgiving lunch and raffle. Long-time customers receive invitations to our fishing trip and prize-filled Christmas Dinner.
We are also thankful for our wonderful suppliers and hold Supplier Days and educational seminars on the use of their latest equipment and supplies.
Spanish Assistance – We offer translation services, communication and bilingual training for our many Latino customers, be they gardeners, landscapers, business owners or local residents.
Loyalty – This is critical and runs both ways. We appreciate our loyal customers who have remained with us through Covid, several business downturns, and through political and economic uncertainty. Our I.O.U. to them is the assurance we will never be a party to any business deal that attempts to cut our customer out of the picture, go around him for a quick buck, or in some other way be detrimental to their business. Remember, our customers are part of our extended family, some for more than a quarter century. We are fiercely loyal to them, and we are not about to change now.
